Preston Trust

The Preston Trust was established in 1990. It is a registered Charity and has as its main objectives:

• to improve and preserve Preston for the benefit of the villagers and visitors
• to secure the preservation and protection of features of historic or public interest, including the village's history
• to promote high standards of planning and architecture
• to support and promote any purpose for the benefit of villagers and in particular, children and senior citizens.

The Trust is committed to working in close co-operation with the Parish Council and St Martin's Church though is mindful of retaining its independence and the need to avoid duplication of effort. In particular, the Trust is able to offer financial support to initiatives to which funds from the public purse are denied by law.

Since its formation, the Trust has provided financial support for many village projects and organises a number of initiatives and popular annual events such as the Trust Supper, Photographic Competition and Boules Tournament.

Invitations to join the Trust's membership are sent out annually with an invited subscription of £12 per family or household. The Trust's aspiration is that every family in the village becomes a member.

The affairs of the Trust are managed by an elected Committee who meet regularly throughout the year.
